0 Book Review: Looking for Alaska by John Green

I've been wanting to read this book since a long time ago. One day I was just with my mom at the mall and I saw a copy, I couldn't resist books calling to me. (Bookworm alert.) So I finally bought it.

The moment I went home and opened it, I couldn't stop my reading. It was that good!

I finished this book in only a few hours, tops. Because... well... I told you I couldn't put it down after starting a few pages.

I actually started reading an e book of this a long time ago but I found it boring so I stopped reading but it's really different once you have a physical copy, well, you could say it's not boring anymore.

First: SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

Okay you've been warned.

I liked Pudge and Colonel's friendship. Colonel really did teach Miles a few things or two. Some might call it bad influence but I beg to differ.

I also heard that this book received a lot of controversial criticism because of it's pornographic parts but I think hence that part, it's a really really good book once you look past it.

Some might be reminded of their high school days, because of all the sneaking out and drinking and smoking. But for myself, since I am living in Philippines, and am studying in a private school, the typical drinking, smoking, and partying isn't really a 'thing' or hype. Though I know a few who drinks, they're very limited and I can count them with my hands. So, I can say I don't relate well with their so called 'activities'.

Maybe that's what I like about reading books that was written outside my country as well, it educates me of the happenings or what really goes on in the states. Like, their education, the way of living, jobs, or etc.

Before:

I really ship Alaska and Pudge, they sound cute together while I was reading and up to the end part I was actually hoping for an HEA but none of that for me.

I guess I've read a lot of those kind of books this days, ones without HEA, but I could honestly say that it broadens my horizons when it comes to fictional books. In the past few years since I've started being into books, at age 10, I first read the Twilight series, right after I saw the first movie. That one had HEA, so it kinda fell into pattern that I was into books about immortality and stuff like that.

Then I started reading the Evermore series, about immortals. Which I haven't finished yet...

But anyways, back to the subject, the After part, when Alaska died, I find it really weird that for smart people like Chip and Pudge, they couldn't guess her cause of death. And she's their friend!

My guess is that, that night, it was Alaska's death anniversary or something and she got really drunk right? And she really misses her mom terribly and she made a few jokes about killing herself once or twice, and she didn't even swerve when she saw the car on the road, she might have killed herself in thoughts on being her mother again.

I also think that she should've broken up with her boyfriend long time ago for Pudge because he seems so sweet and he likes Alaska too. And even though he didn't even get laid, I think life's unfortunate for him to have something happen he wanted for a long time only for Alaska to kill herself few hours after. But I guess some people had it worse.

I was depressed for a week straight after reading this okay.

All I can say now is that this is definitely on my favorite books. I have yet to read other John Green books like The Fault in Our Stars. I've heard comments about it on how good it was and Tumblr people are forcing me to read it as well. So, I might buy it the next time!

I also just finished reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, might do a review soon! See you there!

Thanks for reading! Hoped you enjoyed my super boring first ever book review.

(Hihi, I like taking pictures of quotes from books that I really like.)

0 Music of the Week

Music is one of the big things in our blog. It's very important not only to me but Anne as well and I'm sure to other people.

So, we're posting our favorite song of the week in the side corner of our blog, which you can always play while you read some of our reviews.

Also, we're not only posting reviews in our blog. We're posting our latest happenings and whatnot.

0 Music of The Week: Chasing Cars - Ed Sheeran and Gary Lightbody

Hello guys, I've never really discussed our Music of the Weeks before, so starting from now, I'm gonna do it every week.

So just 4 a.m. this morning (night in U.K.) Ed Sheeran performed at the iTunes festival. (Which I missed because of school.)

Can I just say that this is one of my favorite performances of him that night. I love Snow Patrol, and I've listened to this song ages ago. Ed covered have covered this song multiple times before but I didn't expect him to perform it in the iTunes festival.

AND EVEN BRING GARY ON STAGE!!!

((Ed and Gary happens to be one of my favorite bromance since Narry (Niall and Harry))

So, there you go guys. Enjoy the music.

0 ♪♫♪: + (Album) - Ed Sheeran

So, exams are finally over. I figured I would do a review of my most favorite singer's album!

Track listing: (Deluxe edition)
1. The A Team
2. Drunk
3. U.N.I.
4. Grade 8
5. Wake Me Up
6. Small Bump
7. This
8. The City
9. Lego House
10. You Need Me I Don't Need You
11. Kiss Me
12. Give Me Love
13. Autumn Leaves
14. Little Bird
15. Gold Rush
16. Sunburn

First of all, there's not a song in this album that I don't like. (Which is a first because I normally don't like atleast 1 song in an album.)
I've only known Ed Sheeran for a few months now and I've been obsessed ever since. I even made an Ed Sheeran blog. Something that would be kept hidden from this blog because more of my real life friends will most likely to visit this sometime but I'm sure for those who got this blog from my Ed blog will know for sure.
Anyways, here's my song by song review. :)

1. The A Team
  • I love this song, hence the actual meaning. But I love the way he made a crackwhore sound like a true angel. Some may listen to this and be like, 'Awww, what a poor girl!', because on the song's perspective about the girl's life, which is true because her life seems really unfortunate. (but I really shouldn't be talking about that.) I've seen a couple of videos of Ed explaining the meaning of this song and he has met the girl in a shelter and she basically told him her story and he wrote a song about it.
  • [Did you know? That apparently, the overall cost of The A Team's music video is only 20? The girl in the video is a friend who was into acting and they spent the money on the whore-ish outfits.]
  •  Also, there's an another song about The A Team, like an alternate, but this time, Mikill Pane mostly rapped in the song. This one's more particularly sadder, how the girl died in the end. :( Check it out, it's called Little Lady
2. Drunk
  • I equally love this song. I think Ed Sheeran has a handful of songs about drinking, but this one's the most well known of them all. Another single from Ed's album.
  • In the music video, Nina Nesbitt, a good friend of Ed and british singer, acted as the ex-girlfriend in the video, which is nice. I love Nina Nesbitt!
3. U.N.I
  • Definitely one of my favorite songs from this album! Anne mentioned that she loves this one as well. I like the rap parts and the bridge especially. I like how chill this song is, like it's not even a breakup song. Many people can also relate to this song, because apparently many people think long distance doesn't work? (I wouldn't know. What do you guys think?)
4. Grade 8
  • Unlike the other songs, on this one, it's more of on the urban feel? With the background tune with beatboxing and such. Don't know if I can say much about this one, but I really really really love this song.
5. Wake Me Up
  • I love this really romantic (a bit sappy?) song. Would you guys believe me if I say he wrote this one drunk? I'm not sure either but I've heard that one around. If that's true, then he must have really loved the girl.

6. Small Bump
  • A real sad song, but really wonderful. Most people would probably think it was Ed who has lost a baby but he's said it multiple times that it's about his friend who was the one who lost the baby.
  • [Did you know? That apparently the Small Bump MV took exactly one take?]
7. This
  • Wake Me Up feels on this song. So good!
8. The City
  •  I would say I like this song, but I've said that multiple times. A song about his London escapades. (And his lost sleep)
9. Lego House
  • AHHHHHHH! Definitely my favorite song in the album. I've so many favorites in this one but this will be forever my very very. This is the first ever song I've heard from Ed. This video to be exact. And I kinda fell in love ever since. Rupert Grint acted as a super crazy obsessed fan in the music video, (which I thought was really... different, and brilliant) When I first watched the MV I was really weirded out, but I grew to love it. HAHAH psychotic fan eh?
10. You Need Me, I Don't Need You
  •  I love this song, one of Ed's main genre, with the rapping and beat box. This song explains how he succeed on his career without needing to be fake. And what he would like to happen on his career. I feel this is one of his very very honest songs. (brave songs.) I particularly like intro part, the guitar solo then the rapping. I really enjoy watching his live performances on this song. He could sing this 3 minute track in 15 minutes on the live versions, which is amazing. Before this was put on the + album, he already released this on one of his old EPs, You Need Me, that one's a bit different with an acapella-ish intro. Check it out, sounds real good as well.
11. Kiss Me
  •  I love love love this song. I've seen a video of Ed explaining the real meaning of this song at one of his gigs (I've never met him/seen him perform :((((( ) In which he says that his godparents got engaged and they asked him to play a song at their wedding but since none of his love songs seems to fit, they asked him to write another song instead. That seems real cool huh? Having to have someone who's just amazing at songwriting and you can go like, 'Hey write a song about me?' and they can come up with something absolutely brilliant and could get sold across the world. (K, rant over.)
  • If you're interested on a little story telling with Ed, about Kiss Me story, this video should be good
12. Give Me Love/Parting Glass
  • Last song in the album but one of my favorites as well! This is so good. Just... can't add anymore. I love this song.
Bonus Tracks
  • Don't know if I have any more energy to review the bonus tracks one by one but
  • I really love Gold Rush, in all the bonus.
  • Little Bird is also on Ed's EP, Loose Change (very good EP)
Favorite lyrics:
  • "The worst things in life come free to us." - The A Team
  • "What didn't kill me, it never made me stronger at all." - Drunk
  • "I wanna hold your heart in both hands,Now I'll watch you fizzle at the bottom of a coke can." - Drunk
  • "And I don't get waves of missing you anymore, they're more like tsunami tides in my eyes." - U.N.I
  • "I'm stumbling forward from the spin I've gotMy minds with you but my hearts just not." - U.N.I
  • "Now I'm in position to be another stalker and every thing I say seems to always sound awkward." - U.N.I
  • "But I know that god made another one of me to love you better than I ever will." -U.N.I
  • "Be a true heart not a follower." - Grade 8
  • "Maybe you were needed up there, but we're still unaware as why." - Small Bump
  • "I'll surrender up my heart, and swap it for yours." - Lego House
  • "I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind, I'll do it all for you in time. And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now." - Lego House
  • "Maybe you should learn to love her, like like the way, you wanna be loved." - Gold Rush
  • "Do you ever wonder if the stars shine out for you?" - Autumn Leaves
P.S.: My additional facts weren't exactly 100% true. =))

0 ♪♫♪: OVEREXPOSED (Album) - Maroon 5

So, I just downloaded this whole album and I've been obsessing over it.

Track listing:
  1. One More Night
  2. Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa)
  3. Daylight
  4. Lucky Strike
  5. The Man Who Never Lied
  6. Love Somebody
  7. Ladykiller
  8. Fortune Teller
  9. Sad
  10. Tickets
  11. Doin’ Dirt
  12. Beautiful Goodbye
  13. Wipe Your Eyes
  14. Wasted Years
  15. Kiss
  16. One More Night (Sticky K. Remix) [Bonus Track]
  17. Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa) [The Others Remix]
I've been a fan of Maroon 5 since I first listened to their hit 'She Will Be Loved'. I think most of us can say that they were a fan since that song. This band just keeps the great music coming.
For one, I really liked the artwork of the album, with all the colors and art and cartoon going on. (I love colors okay)
I like everything about this album to be honest. I mean, who doesn't like Adam Levine's sass and voice?
My personal favorite track is Wipe Your Eyes despite the weird voiced intro and it's only available in the Deluxe Edition. :(
They also covered 'Kiss'! Which I was surprised to here since I just watched Gulliver's Travels (might as well do a review soon!) and there was a part there where they sang this song. (Totally out of topic but whatever) It sounds good.
Their single, Payphone, was such a great hit as well, I must say it is one the great tracks from this album. I know not all like those kinda mainstream music but it is great for me. Another hit added to Maroon 5's growing list.

Favorite lyrics: (This might just come in handy in the quote department! Hihi)
  • "But baby there you again, there you again making me love you. Yeah I stopped using my head, using my head let it all go. Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo and now i'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid crawling back to you." -One More Night
  • "Oh, you turned your back on tomorrow. 'Cause you forgot yesterday, I gave you my love to borrow, but you just gave it away." -Payphone
  • "Sometimes honesty is the worst policy" -The Man Who Never Lied
  • "You're such a hard act for me to follow. Love me today don't leave me tomorrow." -Love Somebody
  • "When did the rain become a storm? When did the clouds begin to form? Yeah we got knocked out of course by a natural force. And well, we'll be swimming when it's gone." -Beautiful Goodbye
  • "When did we cross the line. How could we could forget. Why do we let the pressure get into our heads?" -Wipe Your Eyes
Give this album a shot, you might just like it. :)
