First of all, there's not a song in this album that I don't like. (Which is a first because I normally don't like atleast 1 song in an album.)
I've only known Ed Sheeran for a few months now and I've been obsessed ever since. I even made an Ed Sheeran blog. Something that would be kept hidden from this blog because more of my real life friends will most likely to visit this sometime but I'm sure for those who got this blog from my Ed blog will know for sure.
Anyways, here's my song by song review. :)
1. The A Team
- I love this song, hence the actual meaning. But I love the way he made a crackwhore sound like a true angel. Some may listen to this and be like, 'Awww, what a poor girl!', because on the song's perspective about the girl's life, which is true because her life seems really unfortunate. (but I really shouldn't be talking about that.) I've seen a couple of videos of Ed explaining the meaning of this song and he has met the girl in a shelter and she basically told him her story and he wrote a song about it.
- [Did you know? That apparently, the overall cost of The A Team's music video is only ₤20? The girl in the video is a friend who was into acting and they spent the money on the whore-ish outfits.]
- Also, there's an another song about The A Team, like an alternate, but this time, Mikill Pane mostly rapped in the song. This one's more particularly sadder, how the girl died in the end. :( Check it out, it's called Little Lady.
- I equally love this song. I think Ed Sheeran has a handful of songs about drinking, but this one's the most well known of them all. Another single from Ed's album.
- In the music video, Nina Nesbitt, a good friend of Ed and british singer, acted as the ex-girlfriend in the video, which is nice. I love Nina Nesbitt!
- Definitely one of my favorite songs from this album! Anne mentioned that she loves this one as well. I like the rap parts and the bridge especially. I like how chill this song is, like it's not even a breakup song. Many people can also relate to this song, because apparently many people think long distance doesn't work? (I wouldn't know. What do you guys think?)
- Unlike the other songs, on this one, it's more of on the urban feel? With the background tune with beatboxing and such. Don't know if I can say much about this one, but I really really really love this song.
- I love this really romantic (a bit sappy?) song. Would you guys believe me if I say he wrote this one drunk? I'm not sure either but I've heard that one around. If that's true, then he must have really loved the girl.
6. Small Bump
- A real sad song, but really wonderful. Most people would probably think it was Ed who has lost a baby but he's said it multiple times that it's about his friend who was the one who lost the baby.
- [Did you know? That apparently the Small Bump MV took exactly one take?]
- Wake Me Up feels on this song. So good!
- I would say I like this song, but I've said that multiple times. A song about his London escapades. (And his lost sleep)
- AHHHHHHH! Definitely my favorite song in the album. I've so many favorites in this one but this will be forever my very very. This is the first ever song I've heard from Ed. This video to be exact. And I kinda fell in love ever since. Rupert Grint acted as a super crazy obsessed fan in the music video, (which I thought was really... different, and brilliant) When I first watched the MV I was really weirded out, but I grew to love it. HAHAH psychotic fan eh?
- I love this song, one of Ed's main genre, with the rapping and beat box. This song explains how he succeed on his career without needing to be fake. And what he would like to happen on his career. I feel this is one of his very very honest songs. (brave songs.) I particularly like intro part, the guitar solo then the rapping. I really enjoy watching his live performances on this song. He could sing this 3 minute track in 15 minutes on the live versions, which is amazing. Before this was put on the + album, he already released this on one of his old EPs, You Need Me, that one's a bit different with an acapella-ish intro. Check it out, sounds real good as well.
- I love love love this song. I've seen a video of Ed explaining the real meaning of this song at one of his gigs (I've never met him/seen him perform :((((( ) In which he says that his godparents got engaged and they asked him to play a song at their wedding but since none of his love songs seems to fit, they asked him to write another song instead. That seems real cool huh? Having to have someone who's just amazing at songwriting and you can go like, 'Hey write a song about me?' and they can come up with something absolutely brilliant and could get sold across the world. (K, rant over.)
- If you're interested on a little story telling with Ed, about Kiss Me story, this video should be good.
- Last song in the album but one of my favorites as well! This is so good. Just... can't add anymore. I love this song.
- Don't know if I have any more energy to review the bonus tracks one by one but
- I really love Gold Rush, in all the bonus.
- Little Bird is also on Ed's EP, Loose Change (very good EP)
